The 2006 Old Folks Christmas Party took place on December 8th at Glór na dTonn.
Well, it’s official – there will be a Fáilte Abhaile Pobal a’Chorrain in 2007. The festival will take place over the Irish August bank holiday weekend (2nd-6th August 2007).
Planned events include; céilí, sports day, Currane v. Clare Island football match, heritage day, photo exhibit and much more.
On Friday August 18th, Michael McNamara visited Currane with some friends from Clare Island to play a session in The George.
Thanks to Mary and John Fallon for sending pictures of Michael and Patrick Campbell working on the bog at Loch Ard during the recent spell of hot weather- perfect for saving the turf!
Patrick Fallon has kindly sent us the pictures he took over Christmas and New Year in Currane. They include the golf presentation that took place on December 28 in The George.
There is still some interest in the idea of another Welcome Home Festival for Currane in 2007. There will probably be a meeting either over St Patrick’s Weekend or Easter. Details of the meeting will be posted here. In the meantime, if you are in favour of another festival, or indeed have anything to say on the subject, please let us know.

We all enjoyed the Welcome Home Festival in 2003 didn’t we? It will be etched in the memories of many Currane people for a long time to come. Now it’s time to start planning another one.
Planning for the 2003 Festival was started way in advance of the occasion and the Festival was such a success because of the careful planning and hard work of the committee. If there is to be another Welcome Home Festival in 2007, planning will need to start shortly.
There will be a meeting at our Community Centre, Glór na dTonn on December 27th at 3.00pm. If you enjoyed the last Festival, please try to attend and show support for the next one. Attendance at the meeting does not mean you will be forced onto a committee!
